the banflague project

Banflague is a village in western Burkina Faso (about an hour outside of Bobo-Dialasso) where I spent the summer of 2014 visiting Chantal Donahue during her Peace Corps Service there. The Banflague Project is an on-going portraiture project focused on Chantal's host family and other community members. The first series is from the summer of 2014. The second series is from December 2017, when Chantal and I were able to return to Banflague together, and I had the privilege of continuing to create portraits with many of the same people I had photographed three and a half years prior. Our plan is to continue this project. *These images are posted with permission, and thanks to Chantal Donahue, we were able to ensure that everyone photographed received prints of their portraits.
